Infiniti trademarks a series of JX names. Teaser silhouette image may hint at new M coupe or another new model.
This teaser image published here was taken from Infiniti's U.S. website. Is Infiniti hinting at a new model?
And that new teaser may or may not be linked to other news. According to Car and Driver, Nissan has taken out a trademark patent in the United States on the following car names: JX20, JX25, JX25h and JX30.
That could mean something is brewing for Nissan's upstart premium brand looking to take on the established Big-3 German brands, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Or it could just be some clerical covering of bases. Nissan had patented other names in the past it has yet put to use such as WX35, PX35 and DX35.
The most obvious speculation to be had is that, naturally, the numbers refer to engine sizes - hardly a big discovery - and that the 'X' may mean an SUV. It wouldn't be the first time Infiniti has borrowed from the BMW alphabet.
Speaking of which, that teaser may be a new M coupe, which was denied by Infiniti, or an all-new G Coupe/G sedan based vehicle. Or not.
We shall end the speculation there. It's now up to you.
