Ford used the Chicago auto show to announce that it would import the Transit Connect comes to America. Sales start in 2009.
Americans have long been clamoring for a taste of Ford’s current European lineup, and now their dream has officially become true. Unfortunately many of them weren’t dreaming about a Ford Transit Connect. The automaker announced that it would begin importing the van to the United States in 2009.
Ford will be marketing the Transit to small business owners, who would prefer a smaller and more economical alternative to the Ford E-series and Dodge Sprinter. Powered by 2.0L four cylinder engine the Transit delivers an estimated fuel economy of 19mpg city and 24mpg highway. Europe’s 2003 International van of the year award winner offers 143 cubic feet of cargo capacity while accommodating items up to 6.5ft in length and 4.7ft in width.
