What will Porsche be bringing to the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed next month? Find out inside.
When the Goodwood Festival of Speed begins on July 2, fans of Porsche will be thrilled to see what the automaker has in store. Not only will the Porsche 911 GT2 RS debut in a Supercar Run, the company will be showing off several vehicles from their past successes.
Classic vehicles will be coming straight from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, and will include the Porsche 917 that won the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 917 was the first Le Mans winner for the brand, which has won 16 Le Mans endurance races total.
Also being wheeled out are the 908/02 and 908/03 Spyder that won the Targa Florio race in 1969 and 1970, respectively. The "Targa", as it is known, covers 720 kilometers around the Madonie Mountains in Sicily, Italy.
For modernists, the big highlight will be the 911 GT2 RS, and its 620 PS (462 kW / 612 bhp) engine, and its maximum torque output of 700 Nm (516 ft-lb). With a drop in weight of 70 kg (154 lbs), the car is capable of a 0-60mph (100 km/h) sprint of 3.4 (3.5) seconds, on its way to a 205 mph (330 km/h) top speed. The impressive stats helped the car to a reported 7m 18s lap time at the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place from July 2 to July 4.
