Another Corvette Stingray spotted, likely one headed for the set of a Transformers movie. But this one is going topless.
This spy shot is said to have been taken in Beverly Hills. It shows a topless version of the Corvette Stingray Concept which served as the basis for a previous iteration of the model in the Transformers movie franchise. But this new model sports some significant changes, like a different hood, grille and wheels and missing are the vertical LED-strip lights.
That car was the character of "Sideswipe" in the Michael Bay-directed movie. Bay had seen the Sting Ray concept while touring GM's design studio and decided to turn the car into a character for the film.
GM introduced the Corvette Sting Ray design study at the Chicago auto show back in 2009. That concept was heavily influenced by the original Corvette Stingray from 1963, including the split-rear windows and the bulky and curvaceous rear silhouette.
