Best Car magazine reports that the next-generation Infiniti M and G will share a platform with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
A report from Best Car magazine in Japan says the next-generation Infiniti M and G (Nissan Fuga and Skyline respectively in Japan) will share Mercedes-Benz E-Class underpinnings. Neither of the two companies has said anything official about this, so for now it is still a rumour.
The possibility certainly exists however, given that Mercedes parent Daimler AG recently announced a global alliance with the Renault-Nissan alliance. According to that agreement, the three companies will share engines and some technical know-how, amongst other things.
The Infiniti for example, will get Mercedes four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines while the next smart fortwo will share parts with the next Renault Twingo.
