MINI has announced plans to offer the John Cooper Works (JCW) World Championship 50 Edition in the United States.
Introduced in 2009, as a tribute to MINI's 50th anniversary, the World Championship 50 Edition features exclusive Connaught Green paint, Pepper White stripes, an aerodynamic body kit, and black 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin boasts leather upholstery, carbon fiber trim, red accent stitching (on the floormats, shifter, and parking brake), and John Cooper Works' signature on a dash-mounted plaque.
Like the standard JCW Hardtop, power comes from a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 208 hp (155 kW / 211 PS) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque.
Only fifty cars will be imported and they will be priced from $40,300 (including destination and handling charges). This means the World Championship 50 Edition will cost as much as a fully-load Audi A3 or a nicely-equipped BMW 135i Coupe.
