For about 2,500 euro, you can upgrade your current Focus RS to the same spec as the Focus RS500. Find out more inside.
U.K. tuners Mountune Performance are releasing a new tuning kit for the Ford Focus RS that practically outperforms the upcoming Focus RS500. The MP350 package is available for current RS owners, as well as new buyers.
The car hits 60mph in 5.4 seconds, compared to the RS500 hitting 62mph in 5.6 seconds. With the MP350 kit, RS owners will reach 100mph (161 km/h) in 12.2 seconds, and 150mph (241 km/h) in 35.0 seconds. Top speed is 165mph (266 km/h) on the car.
This "Ford-approved" package will be sold through Ford dealerships in the UK, before release across Europe.
It boosts power by nearly 15% to 350 PS (257 kW / 345 hp). Torque is also increased to 460 Nm (339 lb-ft). The improvement comes by way of a bigger air filter, intercooler, and exhaust pipe, as well as a modification to the ECU, and a better fuel pump.
With such similar figures, it is stunning that Ford would approve the kit. The numbers are identical to those found on the upcoming Ford Focus RS500.
"While the limited edition RS500 we are unveiling at the Leipzig Show today will remain the ultimate Focus RS, this upgrade provides existing customers with the attractive Ford-approved performance enhancement option that many RS owners have been asking for," said Focus RS500 exec Matthias Tonn.
The Mountune Focus RS MP350 will hit the market in May for £1,995, plus £200 for labor. Pre-orders are now being accepted for the kit through Mountune Performance's website.
