Suzuki used the 2008 Paris Motor Show to debut their smallest vehicle for global markets, the Alto. Meant to combine style and impressive fuel economy, the new car aims to be the perfect urban runabout.

The Alto features a European inspired exterior with excellent aerodynamics which gives it a sleek modern look. As with many compact cars, interior room is rather limited but the Alto can accept up to four adults in relative comfort. When not in use the rear seats fold down to help maximize the rear luggage compartment.

Using a Euro 5 compliant three cylinder 1.0L petrol engine that produces 68PS and 90Nm of torque, the Alto has a combined fuel consumption of 62.7mpg. In a somewhat rarity among 1.0L cars, the Alto will be available with a four speed automatic transmission.

Look for the Alto to launch in the spring of 2009, with annual sales expectations in Europe projected at 60,000.
