Finnish racing ace Mika Salo has picked up his 600hp Camaro from Luxemburg tuner Camaro Motorsport. Salo already has a classic '69 model worth over 1,000hp.
Former Formula One pilot and now NASCAR driver Mika Salo has taken delivery of this Camaro Motorsport Camaro V8 Supercharged. The Finn is a Camaro fan who owns a classic 1969 Camaro with supercharger and over 735kW (1,000hp) under its belt. His new 6.2-litre V8 has slightly less at 441kW (600hp) and 747Nm but should nonetheless prove explosive.
"With this new car," says Salo, "I have a modern car with ‘retro' looks and stunning performance. A great combination. On top, it has proven to be very reliable as all parts are built according to the highest quality standard."
The fitted Motorsport SC600 system includes a supercharger that draws less power than the air conditioner, a special air intake system, a stainless steel cold air intake and cat back exhaust system, exhaust headers and dyno fine tuning for the engine management. A 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters drives the wheels.
"Suspension and brakes have not been modified yet," continued Salo. "But when the snow has disappeared, I will sure fit stiffer suspension and different brakes. For the time being this setting is fine, it enables me to drive the car over winter time as well."
Stopping power comes from larger brake discs with 6-piston calipers. Camaro Motorsport kitted the car out with parts such as a rear spoiler and a special gear lever.
European residents who want the car can order it directly through the Luxemburg-based tuner.
