GMC announces a Denali trim package for the 2011 Acadia crossover vehicle. Power comes from a 3.6-litre V6 making 215kW (292hp).

GMC has announced the Denali trim package for its 2011 Acadia. The Denali brand has been quite popular with other GMC models and an extension to the large Acadia crossover seemed quite natural.

"The GMC Denali models have come to stand for luxury and exclusivity, and that's just what customers will get in the new Acadia Denali," said Lisa Hutchinson, GMC product marketing director. "The decision to develop an Acadia Denali was made quickly within the new GM in response to customer and dealer demand for a Denali version ever since the launch and success of the Acadia."

The engine is a 3.6-litre V6 aluminium block with dual overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and variable valve timing. It produces 215kW (292hp) at 6,300rpm and maximum torque of 366Nm (270 lb-ft) at 3,400rpm. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic sending power either to the front or to all four wheels. Estimated EPA fuel consumption figures are 17mpg and 24mpg for city and highway respectively in the FWD model. The AWD is expected to deliver a combination of 16/ 23 mpg.

Standout exterior styling features include the mono-colour exterior and chrome honeycomb grille typical of Denali models, color-coded lower front and rear fascias, fender flares and dual chrome exhaust tips. The 20-inch chrome-clad wheels are shod with P255/55R20 H-rated blackwall tyres. Overall proportions are 5.1 metres (201-inches) long, 2m (78.9-inches) wide, 1.8m (72.8-inches) high with roof rails and 1.77m (69.9-inches) without.

The front suspension is a MacPherson strut design while the rear suspension features a linked "H" design. It is tuned to work well with the AWD system for better traction under wet, snowy or ice-covered conditions.

Customers can choose between a 7-seat or an 8-seat interior configuration with flexible seating arrangements. Comfort features include tri-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, perforated leather seats with matching leather door panel trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel with mahogany wood inserts, chrome-lighted sill plates with the Denali logo and a rear view camera system.
