Jaguar's fastest-ever production vehicle to date, the XKR-S is a high performance lightweight coupe that puts this big cat firmly at the top of the food chain. Premiering at Geneva, the new model is to be limited to 200 examples and available in right and left-hand-drive exclusively on European soil.
The XKR-S is a performance car that focuses as much on excellent driving ability as it does on exceptional packaging, 'unique' to the British firm. Straight-line performance rivals that of only Jaguar's XJ220 supercar, the XKR-S achieving an electronically-limited 174 mph and a sprint to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds. But behind the figures a more crafted XKR is revealed.
Excellent dynamic ability is delivered via a new highly-strong but lightweight all-aluminium body, which combined with a newly-revised suspension setup including bespoke dampers and tweaked computer-aided active suspension, provides the XKR-S an 'outstanding' balance of ride and handling. 400 mm brake discs at the front and 350 mm at the rear ensure enhanced braking ability.
Under the bonnet sits a 420 hp, 560 Nm version of the XK-R's supercharged 4.2-litre powerplant, mated to its tamer sibling's revered high-speed six-speed sequential automatic transmission, optionally controlled via steering wheel paddle.
Available exclusively in Ultimate Black and setting off grille, sills, vents and rear diffuser nicely, the XKR-S aims to effortlessly stand out from the crowd. Premium interior packaging chiefly includes full leather upholstery, Piano Black veneer and a 525W Bowers & Wilkin sound system among its enhancements over standard XK-R specification. The exclusive XKR-S hits European showrooms this Summer.
