Twingo RS Gordini will debut on November 25, Renault Clio RS Gordini to follow some months later.
Renault will be once-again producing Gordini-labeled models which are to be added to the Renault Sport range.
On November 25, Renault will debut the Twingo Gordini RS at the L'Atelier Renault on the Champs Elysées in Paris. A Clio Gordini RS will also be launched a few months later.
Amédée Gordini was a developer of Renault sport models, lending his name to the R8 Gordinis which took 4 out of the top 5 slots at the 1964 Tour de Corsica rally. That gave birth to a Gordini Cup in 1966. Gordini-labeled models also made their way to the street in the 1960s and became fashionable items, making appearances in several French films of the era. About 200,000 of them were made.
Renault Sport Technologies (RST) will be developing the models and promises to build upon the legend while staying true to the Gordini tradition. Styling will likely keep the off-center double stripes and feature other cues from the old models, although Renault has provided few details in this press release announcing the return of the Gordini. No power figures were made available either.
More news will likely follow with the premiere of the Twingo Gordini RS in a few weeks.
