It's not exactly overflowing with choices.

Gear.Club Unlimited is Nintendo’s foray into the world of sim racing. Our initial reactions have been in the realm of meh, but that could be because Forza Motorsport 7 is currently filling our screens with 700-plus cars rendered in exquisite 4K resolution. Gear.Club Unlimited is slated to hit shelves for the Nintendo Switch on December 1, and we were already given a partial list of cars for the game. Now, that list has expanded with what developer Eden Games says is the final roster, and it's not what you'd call overwhelming. All total, Nintendo sim racers will have 32 cars to choose from, representing a handful of manufacturers. Here’s how it breaks down, with the newest batch of cars listed first:

  • Acura NSX 2016
  • Bentley Continental GT V8 S
  • BMW Z4 Roadster
  • BMW M2 Coupé
  • BMW M4 Coupé
  • BMW M6 Coupé
  • Ford Mustang GT 2015
  • Ford Focus RS 2016
  • Lotus Elise 220 Cup
  • Lotus Exige S
  • Lotus Evora 400
  • McLaren 570S
  • McLaren 12C
  • McLaren 675LT
  • McLaren P1
  • Nissan GTR Nismo

  • AC 378 GT Z
  • Alfa Romeo 4C
  • 8C Competizione
  • Bugatti Veyron GrandSport
  • Chevrolet Camaro 1LS
  • Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
  • Dodge Challenger RT/Scat Pack
  • Jaguar F-Type R AWD
  • Mercedes-AMG C63 S

Yes, that’s a long way from the 150-plus cars coming next month with Sony’s long-awaited Gran Turismo Sport for the Playstation 4, and it’s in a completely different galaxy from Forza 7. Gear.Club Unlimited isn’t without some interest however – it will deliver over 400 races through three different categories. Time Trial will be familiar to most gamers, as will Rally mode. Derby mode is less clear, other than it will allow racing for seven players at a time.

With Microsoft and Sony both coming out with 4K-ready sim racing titles, Gear.Club Unlimited could well get lost in the holiday shopping rush. However, we suspect devoted Nintendo fans will be quite happy to have a sim racer in their selection of games, and a decent looking one at that.
