Need For Speed Payback will hit shelves on November 10.
Need For Speed landed on our list of the 10 best car video games of all time, specifically 1998’s Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit. With more than 20 years of success on the market already, developers of the loved racing series, Ghost Games, have announced a new installment to the franchise – and it looks like it could be another smash hit.
Dubbed Need For Speed Payback, the newest NFS game drops racers in the city of Fortune Valley, essentially a digitally replicated version of Las Vegas. The open-world concept gives drivers endless opportunities to explore the many roads, and beautiful sceneries – including forests, deserts, and a booming downtown district – all in the pursuit of speed. The latest trailer gives us our best look yet at the upcoming game in full.

Admittedly, it looks like a mix of Forza Horizon and Grand Theft Auto, but contrary to the latter, allows users to get behind the wheel of real cars like the Lamborghini Huracan, the Chevy Camaro ZL1, the Lamborghini Diablo, and of course, the new BMW M5, just to name a few. And like previous versions before it, Payback will also include the hot pursuit feature, which gives you the chance to live out your criminal fantasies by running from the cops.
The open-world design is comprised of more than 400 events, activities, and collectible features to keep players interested, said Ghost Games Creative Director Will Ho in an interview with GameSpot. "It's the real-world fantasy of exploring aimlessly, finding other car lovers, discovering beautiful places, taking snapshots, sharing stories," said Ho.
Need For Speed Payback has a release date of November 10, 2017, and will be available for PS4 Xbox One, and PC at launch.
