Load your stuff inside and go off the grid for as long as you want.

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is already a popular platform for camper conversions, but Winnebago is now making it possible to take one camping in the wilderness by launching the Revel. This all-wheel-drive van offers off-road traction and plenty of space for carrying your stuff into the backcountry. Prices start at $134,799, and customers can order the Revel in Pebble Gray or Silver Forest with or without side styling decals.

According to Winnebago, the Revel stems from customer requests for a camper that can go off road. The van includes everything a group might need for staying in the wilderness. For example roof-mounted solar cells provide power for the on-board kitchen that includes an induction cooktop and small refrigerator. The tiny space for the toilet and shower doubles as a closet with removable storage.

There’s a power lift for the bed in the back. When the mattress is out of the way, the space allows for 140 cubic feet (3,964 liters) of storage for a group’s gear, including enough room to fit bikes without breaking them down. There are also plenty of cupboards around the interior for stowing smaller items.

When it’s time to relax, there’s an awning with LED lighting that extends from the van for the outdoors in some shade. The optional JBL speakers would turn the outdoors into a venue for quite a party, too.

Inside, snap-in screens for the sliding door and rear ones allow for plenty of ventilation at a campsite without letting bugs inside the vehicle. A group could use the Revel all year because there’s a diesel-fired heating system and optional roof-mounted air conditioner. Don’t worry about getting lost because Winnebago offers an optional infotainment system with a Rand McNally RV GPS.

The only available powertrain includes a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel engine with 188 horsepower (140 kilowatts) and 325 pound-feet (441 Newton-meters) of torque. It routes through a five-speed automatic gearbox. The on-demand four-wheel-drive system can go into low range during particularly sticky situations. Hill descent control, electronic stability control, traction control, and four-wheel anti-lock brakes should provide off-roading security, too. As an option for even more hardcore driving, customers can order a set of black wheels with BF Goodrich T/A KO2 all-terrain tires.
