Germany’s Inden Design applies the idea of a restomod to a fairly modern vehicle by converting a 2015 C63 AMG Coupe Edition 507 into full Black Series specification with some extra performance goodies. The body parts are all original components from AMG.

Inden's team started by stripping the Edition 507 down to a bare chassis, and then started building the coupe back into an even more serious performance machine. Among the upgrades, the firm fits a set of KW Club Sport coilovers to replace the stock pieces. Radar and other safety sensors are now front and back, and they're parts not available on the original Black Series.

The builders put serious effort into making sure the Black Series panels fit perfectly and make the vehicle look fresh from the factory. The team installs all of the special pieces including the wider fenders, side sills, unique bumpers, and carbon fiber diffuser. The crew even takes the time to dismantle parts like the trunk and doors to paint their hinges in the appropriate color. The correct mesh is even in all of the intakes.

Rather than the original multi-spoke wheels with a metal finish, Inden Design fits a set of BBS F1 Y-spoke wheels that are 8.75Jx19 in front and 12.0Jx19 at the back. The firm powder then coats them in satin black with polished rims for some extra style.

Oddly, Inden Design doesn't mention this vehicle's powertrain, which is an issue because the Edition 507 and Black Series have slightly different tunes of a naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V8. The version in the Edition 507 makes 500 horsepower (373 kilowatts) and 450 pound-feet (610 Newton-meters) of torque. In comparison, the Black Series is a little more potent with 510 hp (380 kW) and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm). This coupe with either variant of the V8 would probably be a joy to drive.

INDEN'S PHILOSOPHY: CONVERSION TO BLACK SERIES AS THE WATCHWORD

It is not for the first time that the business owner – Joe Inden - of Inden Design in Rennerod/Rhineland-Palatinate had the idea to convert an original vehicle – in this case a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupe Edition 507 – into the absolute top version Black Series with original parts by AMG. Certainly, there is no lack of evidence with regard to his proficiency. For almost a quarter of a century the highly skilled tuner is very well-known Germany-wide and beyond the country's border.

Inden Design implements enormous efforts in order to realize such conversions. Relevant circles of experts recognize and appreciate these efforts. First of all, the above-mentioned vehicle has been completely dismantled and the original chassis replaced by a KW coil-over-suspension Club Sport. After that the rear side parts of the body have been removed in order to precisely fit in the original Black Series side parts.
As expected, Joe Inden spared no hard work and dismantled the doors, the trunk lid and even all hinges to coat the interior door- and trunk-frames thoroughly. Also the front and rear bumper, the side sills to the right and left, both fenders, as well as the hood - exclusively AMG Black Series original parts – have been coated separately.

Prior to the mounting of both bumpers at Inden Design, they were equipped with original riveted interior parts and grates. Additionally, PTS-sensors and radar were installed at the front and back – these are not available at an original Black Series. The original carbon spoiler as well as carbon flaps complete the front bumper. At the rear end, the carbon diffuser, all original interior parts and the grates including the bracket of the top model, as well as the Black Series tailpipes are mounted. Of course, the original reinforcements and brackets of the Black Series side sills are installed at the body and the sills including the carbon application. Before that the Black Series fenders as well as the Black Series hood with ventilation apertures have been mounted and aligned. The gap dimension of the doors, fenders, hood and trunk lid have been adjusted accurately. After the assemblage of the taillights, all wheel housings and the under-body paneling have been replaced with Black Series original. Finally, the carbon rear spoiler has been mounted and sealed.

Last but not least, let's have a look at the wheel-tire-combination: The one-piece BBS-F1 light alloy rims - in 8,75Jx19 with 245/35R19 Michelin Sport on the front axle and in 12,0Jx19 with 305/30R19 on the rear axle, each with 15-mm spacer discs – are powdered in silk-matt black and the edge of the rims are finished in high-gloss turning.

After the conversion in Rennerod neither expenses nor efforts were spared in order to present a C 63 AMG Coupe Edition 507 which is indistinguishable from the model of the top version Black Series.
