It’s driven just over 500 miles, and it’s up for bidding on eBay.
Depending on who you ask, some might consider the Nissan 300ZX an instant classic. Now more than 20 years old, the sports car was last produced in 1996. Though the second-generation Z32 saw more than 164,000 units roll off the production line, finding a well-kept, low-mileage example in today’s market is no easy feat. This particular Z, though, is up for sale on eBay – and it’s stunning (apart from the chrome wheels).
A handsome, low-mileage, Onyx Black example, the Z has driven just 528 miles (849 kilometers) since new. Bidding currently sits at a whopping $63,000 per this writing. The original black exterior finish is paired to an immaculate tan leather interior, and the factory-fresh 3.0-liter biturbo V6 comes paired to the original five-speed manual gearbox.
Brand new, the turbocharged 300ZX produced 300 horsepower (223 kilowatts) and 283 pound-feet (383 Newton-meters) of torque, which allowed it the ability to sprint to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in just about 5.5 seconds, and continue on to a top speed of 155 mph (249 kmh). Hydraulically actuated rear-wheel steering, and a dual-mode electronically adjustable suspension with Touring and Sport modes are also available – but this particular 300ZX is even more rare than most others.
Among the more than 164,000 examples produced, and 90,000 or so delivered to the U.S., it’s a one of just 300 "Commemorative Edition" coupes produced in 1996, the last year of full production. Not only that, but it’s also the last example ever sold new in the U.S., thus the massive bidding figure.
If you think $63,000 is a hefty price to pay, it’s only expected to go up. Nearly four days are left on the auction, and more than 37 hopeful buyers have cast their bid in hopes of taking home the legendary Z car.
