Two very rare cars will be hitting the auction block. Only 25 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTRs were ever built; one coupe and one roadster are headed to the podium.
If you missed out on your chance over the years to own either a 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Coupe, or a 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster, then luck may be on your side. Only 25 CLK GTR's were ever produced, 20 coupes and five roadsters. One of each will hit the auction block.
AMG sister company, HWA, built each of the vehicles. The two cars both use a 612 horsepower, 6.9-liter V12 engine with dual overhead cams. The engines are mounted to a manual six-speed sequential gearbox which the driver controls with paddle-shifters. Dual independent double-wishbone suspension, and carbon-fiber brakes are found on both. The two vehicles are practically identical, though the Roadster has a roll bar and the removable roof panel.
This legendary coupe is certified as number 13 in the series, while the Roadster is the second of the 25. Each vehicle has a very limited number of kilometers, with the odometer showing 25 on the coupe and 34 on the roadster.
Look for the coupe, which went for €1 million new, to go for up to £390,000 (€428,800+). Although it cost €1.3 million brand new, £500,000 (€549,750+) is the expected high price for the drop-top. RM Auctions will handle the sales.
