This four-minute long video features the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz Vision S500, a new plug-in hybrid. Introducing the car is Daimler's mustachioed CEO, Dieter Zetsche.

The video on this page shows the unveiling of the Mercedes Vision S 500 Plug-in hybrid as it was driven onto the Frankfurt stage by Daimler AG CEO Dieter Zetsche.  In his address to the Frankfurt crowd, heard here in both German and English, Zetsche discusses a wide range of topics from the German government to the push for more green technology.

The Vision S 500 plug-in is a follow-up to the S 400 hybrid.  The new model is capable of traveling 30 km in an all-electric state, with the electric motor working with a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine in a full hybrid setup.

Despite the respectable 0-100 km/h sprint of 5.5 seconds, the car uses just 3.2 liters of fuel per 100 km.  CO2 emissions are a low 74 grams per kilometer.  The strong power comes from the base S-Class engine, which produces 295 horsepower, and the 44 kW electric motor.  The motor runs on a lithium-ion battery, and stores up to 10 kWh.  The battery can be charged in full in 4.5 hours, if it needs to be plugged in.
