MINI has unveiled a new smartphone roadside assistance application for American drivers.
Called "MINI Road Assist", the app is available for certain BlackBerry devices and the iPhone. After the application is downloaded, users are directed to enter their VIN number, name, and address. When a motorist needs help, they simply start the application, select the service they require (fuel, a tire change...etc), and the information (vehicle data & GPS location) is automatically sent to the nearest service provider. Upon receiving this information, MINI tells the driver the name of the service provider and their estimated time of arrival.
According to MINI's US President, Jim McDowell, "MINI owners appreciate technological innovation and will welcome the additional peace of mind that comes from having fast, easy access to the free roadside services provided during their warranty period."
