Chevy has announced pricing for the Cobalt SS will start at $22,995 when it begins arriving at dealerships in late April. Power is supplied by a 2.0L four cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 260 hp and allows the SS to run from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds.
Engineers recalibrated the engine for no-lift shifting and swapped out the stock suspension for the all-new FE5 Sport suspension. The suspension has specific stabilizer bars, spring rates, damper tuning and several driver selectable modes to help maximize performance. Standard 225/40-series Continental summer tires are mounted on 18-inch aluminum wheels while front Brembo brakes help bring the car to a stop. Together all these improvements allowed the SS to set a new class record at Nürburgring, posting a time of 8:22.85 minutes.
The exterior features a new front fascia with integrated fog lights, diamond mesh grille inserts, special side rockers, a deck lid spoiler, and a bright-tipped exhaust. Inside the there are sport seats with suede-like inserts, a new gauge cluster, and a boost gauge mounted on the A-pillar. Available options include a limited-slip differential, sunroof, an advanced audio system and high-wing rear spoiler.
