Here is a new teaser video showing some more details of the upcoming Grand Bentley. It is the fifth video and it gives some insight into why the car looks the way it does.
A quick glance at the article title confirms that this is the fifth instalment in the Grand Bentley video teaser saga. That only one and two episodes were published on WCF is not an oversight on our part at all but a decision taken in light of the fact that videos three and four did not reveal much more than what the first two had. But this one tells more, gives more.
Dirk van Braeckel, Director of Design and Concepts at Bentley Motors, is narrating the clip while sketching some details of the car. He says a number of things like how the brand needed to touch base with previous generation Bentleys while at the same time moving forward with its design for this car. Another point of interest is when Braeckel says his customers also wanted a driver's car, which means handling has probably been improved, something not normally associated with a Bentley of this nature.
Currently called Project Kimberly internally, the Grand Bentley is expected to churn out upwards of 405kW (550hp) from a 6.75-litre V8 engine. Its top speed should tip over the 200mph mark. There is talk of a hybrid and a diesel variant as well as a biofuel version. The latter is highly likely given the fact that the Supersports can already run on biofuel.
The Grand Bentley will make its public debut at the 2009 Concours D'Elegance in Pebble Beach, California, on the 16th of August.
