Volvo's R-Design package will soon be fitted to the XC60. The package gives the compact Swedish SUV some forcefulness, a sporty interior and a growling exterior. It will be unveiled at Frankfurt in September.
Volvo has presented the XC60 R-Design which is targeting the young and the restless. Fitted to the already sporty XC60, the R-Design package seeks to enhance the compact SUV's looks further and also provide a better driving experience. A lot of the latter is due to the steering system that has been geared to be more direct and communicative with the road.
The pack will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September and is made up of many styling parts. They include skid plates, trim mouldings, the front grille in silk metal finish with R-Design badge, front fog lamp décor in silk metal finish, colour-matched lower body mouldings, twin chromed tailpipes and 18-inch five-spoke wheels. Twenty inch wheels are optional. The chassis has not been lowered but because of the bodywork it looks like it has. Therefore the XC60 keeps its off-road abilities.
Equally the interior is made to be stylish while sporty. It features sports seats, embossed R-Design emblems on the front of the back head rests, sports pedals in aluminium, unique leather upholstery, blue gauges in typical R-Design and a unique R-Design centre stack.
"The R-Design model boosts the XC60's already sporty aura and gives the car an even more refined character in terms of both driving experience and design." says Lennart Stegland, president of Volvo Special Vehicles. "These are properties that we know appeal to the discerning buyers of this type of cars."
