Alfa Romeo has announced they will celebrate their 99th birthday by racing the first production 8C Spider up the historic hill climb at this weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Based on Alfa's sexy 8C Competizione coupe, the new 8C Spider boasts a 4.7-liter V8 engine that produces 450 bhp and 480 Nm of torque. Thanks to car's powerful engine, the 8C Spider rockets from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph).
The new drop top will be joined by several historic Alfa Romeos including the 1924 P2 Gran Premio which won the first World Championship in 1925, the 1931 8C 2300 tipo Le Mans, the 6C 3000 CM which placed second in the 1953 Mille Miglia, and the 1975 33 TT 12. Alfa will also showcase two classic Bertone-designed concepts, the sleek 1968 Alfa Carabo and the radical 1978 Najavo.
