Skoda has officially unveiled the first pictures of the facelifted Octavia vRS and Octavia Scout.

The Octavia vRS features a redesigned front grille, new headlights (an adaptive xenon lighting system will be optional), new taillights, available 18-inch Neptune alloy wheels, and the latest must have for virtually all European automakers - LED daytime driving lights. Performance changes include a minor reduction in weight, a lowered sports suspension, and several aerodynamic design tweaks which decrease drag for improved acceleration and fuel economy.

Under the hood, potential owners get a choice of either a 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine with 200 bhp or a fuel efficient 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine that produces 170 bhp. With the petrol engine, the vRS boasts a combined fuel economy rating of 37.7 mpg (combined cycle) and CO2 emissions of 175 g/km. On the other hand, the diesel engine allows the vRS to get a combined fuel economy rating of 49.6 mpg (combined cycle) while emitting 150 g/km of CO2.

Like the facelifted Octavia which debuted at the Paris Motor Show, the Octavia Scout receives many of the same exterior styling updates but goes one step further thanks to the addition of underbody protection, 179 mm of ground clearance, and a Haldex all-wheel drive system. Power comes from either a 1.8-liter TSI 160 bhp petrol engine or a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine with 140 bhp.
