Three world debut concepts from Stile Bertone, Morgan and Zagato will appear at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este at the end of April, continuing the show's tradition of judging modern concepts alongside the classics.
Modern concours events have broken from the tradition of years past to become a celebration of all things beautiful and automotive, rather than just classic cars, and the inclusion of more recent concept cars has become common. The Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in Cernobbio on Lake Como has been inviting the dream cars all along, with a judged ranking of modern concepts that goes back to the inaugural event in 1929.
Driveable concepts up to three years old are eligible to participate in the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, and this year's invitees are sure to draw as much of a crowd as the hyper-restored vintage vehicles. Eight modern concept cars will be featured at this year's event, set to take place April 24-26.
Three of the vehicles are world debuts, in celebration of the event's 80th anniversary. Stile Bertone has a V8-powered, lightweight concept in the wings. Morgan has an Aeromax-based vehicle prepared, and Zagato will debut a vehicle as well.
BMW's flexible-skinned GINA Light concept will be on hand for its first outdoor display. The BMW Group has been a patron of the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este for many years, and is presenting the GINA Light as a "birthday guest" to the event. Guest concepts that will be eligible for judging include the Infiniti Essence, Rinspeed iChange, mindset, Aston Martin One-77 and Fisker Karma S.
