The game looks to take major cues from The Fast and the Furious series.
The Need for Speed franchise returns on November 10 with a new entry called Payback, and the game’s teaser trailer offers the extra incentive of possibly giving us a sneak peek at the next-gen BMW M5. You can spot what appears to be the new sport sedan at the left of the promo image for the video, above.
The latest game in the long-running franchise looks to take The Fast and Furious as its major inspiration. Players go to a Las-Vegas-inspired city called Fortune Valley. Your three-person crew is out for vengeance against The House, a cartel that includes the city’s casinos, criminals, and police.
The story is just a background driving cool vehicles in these games, and Payback looks to deliver on automotive awesomeness. Players will be able to pick from five car classes – Race, Drift, Off-Road, Drag, and Runner. You can also find abandoned vehicles scattered around the desert. Models like a Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Aventador, R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R, Nissan 240Z, Pagani Huayra BC, and many others show up in the trailer. The game’s Website also mentions a car pack for pre-ordering that includes a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS, 1969 Dodge Charger R/T, 2016 Ford F-150 Raptor, 2008 Nissan 350Z, and 2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport.
Need for Speed Payback will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
BMW has been trickling out details about the new M5, including showing camouflaged examples of the sedan. Its biturbo 4.4.-liter V8 reportedly makes 600 horsepower (441 kilowatts) and 516 pound-feet (700 Newton-meters). Somewhat like the E63 S AMG, the sedan has an all-wheel-drive system that drivers can swap into a fully rear-wheel-drive mode. The setup allegedly gets the four-door to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in less than 3.5 seconds. BMW will officially reveal the M5 later this year.
