Following its debut at the CV Show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on 15 April, the new range-topping Hilux will go on sale in the UK in the summer.

When you build one of Europe most popular pick-up trucks, you want to of course stick to your winning formula but how can you increase appeal for your trucks. Of course there is but one way, limited edition models. Limited editions come in all shapes and sizes but most come with 'just' a few extras over the regular models like air-co, nav systems and fancy alloy wheels.

This time, Toyota has let loose their Toyota Motorsport team on the 3.0 liter D-4D engine, also found in the Hilux Invincible, who developed a diesel engine performance kit increasing power to 197 hp, up from 171 hp. Torque is boosted from 343 Nm to 430 Nm between 1,600 and 3,200 rpm. All this extra power results in a 0-100 km/h time of just 10.5 seconds.

Needless to say that this limited edition also has its shares of extras like new 15 inch wheels, stainless steel mesh grille, heated front seats and two-tone leather interior. 500 units of the new range-topping Hilux, which has no name just yet, will go on sale this summer in the UK. Prices and full specifications are to follow closer to the sale date.
