G-Power from Germany wants to offer the ultimate M3 for road and track use, but rather than using the latest generation for its hardcore machine, the aftermarket firm starts the earlier E92-generation as the basis for this road-legal corner carver that it calls the M3 GT2 S Hurricane.

The company overhauls the M3’s already impressive standard V8 powertrain. The biggest change is that a long-stroke crankshaft boosts the displacement to 4.5 liters from the stock 4.0 liters. There are also forged components for the pistons and connecting rods. The stronger internals are necessary because G-Power also adds a supercharger that runs at 11.6 psi (0.8 bar). The result of all of this work is 709 horsepower (529 kilowatts) and 479 pound-feet (650 Nm). An limited-slip differential with a separate oil cooler helps make sure all of this grunt gets to the road.

According to G-Power, its higher displacement, supercharged M3 can hit 124 miles per hour (200 kilometers per hour) in 9.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph (330 kph).

For making the most of the huge output, G-Power installs coilovers with the firm’s own Nürburgring Setup that tunes the ride height and dampers for the Green Hell. Ceramic brake discs slow down this M3 when it’s time to get through the twisty sections of the track.

G-Power’s M3 doesn’t try to hide its performance capability. A carbon-fiber widebody kit in eye-catching orange covers the 19-inch wheels. The company also replaces the doors and hood with carbon-fiber replacements. When on track, air jacks lift the car quickly for swapping tires quickly.

The company strips the cabin to the bare essentials, including tossing the rear seat. Alcantara covers everything that remains. Rather than the standard gauges, a simple multi-function display sits in the instrument panel. For safety, a roll cage protects occupants on the track, and if things go really poorly then there’s a fire suppression system, too.

The ultimate road and track CLUBSPORT machine

G-POWER has its roots in 1970s motorsport. Back then, BMW 02 models were uprated for the track with twin carburettors, high-lift camshafts, and tubular exhaust manifolds.

These tuning packages were also commonly installed on road cars, which were then used on the racetrack at the weekend. This is how the first G-POWER Clubsport models were born.

Today’s G-POWER CLUBSPORT concept as embodied by the M3 GT2 S HURRICANE, is a car that distils experience from 35 years of engine tuning, and seven high-speed world records.

• 720 hp / 529 kW at 7,800 rpm (+ 300 hp / 221 kW)

• 650 Nm at 3,900 rpm (+ 250 Nm)

• V-max: > 330km/h

• 0-200km/h: 9,8 sec.

• M3 V8 SK III RR supercharger system

When you approach G-POWER for a complete car, their carbon-fibre widebody kit is an obvious attraction. This kit not only reduces vehicle weight, but also provides the big intake and cooling vents, and downforce inducing spoilers that form the basis of a unique road and track weapon.

The wide wheel arches are filled with lightweight forged 19-inch competition grade alloy wheels wrapped in 295/30ZR19 and 325/30ZR19 trackday Cup tyres. Behind them, a racing brake system with ceramic brake discs clamped by six and four-pot callipers front and rear respectively ensures strong and consistent stopping power.

The G-POWER G3M-RS CLUBSPORT uses coilover suspension calibrated to the G-POWER "NÜRBURGRING SETUP" in terms of ride height, and damper bounce and rebound control. Greater handling precision comes from the use of Uniball joints wherever possible on both axles, while the limited slip differential features a separate oil cooler for consistent performance.

Should the worst happen, an integrated fire extinguishing system will quickly put out a fire, and in proper racecar style, compressed air jacks that plug into an external compressor deploy to allow rapid tyre changes during a pit stop.

While the intent of the G-POWER M3 GT2 S HURRICANE is pretty clear from the outside, its racing genes carry through to the cockpit. Here, a full rollover cage improves structural stiffness and safety, while the deletion of the rear seat saves weight. To this end all the sound insulation material was removed and much of the metal instead covered with carbon-fibre panels.

All the other areas - the dashboard, sports seats and roof headlining - are trimmed in Alcantara with ornamental seams, showing that an otherwise Spartan cabin can have some luxurious accents.

A digital multifunction display replaces the factory speedometer and rev meter, while the G-POWER supplementary display provides the driver with relevant information concerning the well being of the supercharged V8 engine.

That engine is the heart of the M3 GT2 S HURRICANE. Part and parcel of the SK III RR supercharger system installation, the V8 engine was completely disassembled and its internals replaced with lightweight forged pistons and connecting rods and a fully balanced long stroke forged crankshaft that takes its swept capacity from 4.0 to 4.5 litre.

Boosting at up to 0.8 bar the G-POWER ASA T1-724 supercharger lifts engine power from 420 hp (309 kW) and 400 Nm of torque to a spectacular 720 hp (529 kW) at 8,000 rpm, accompanied by 650 Nm of twist.

Performance is correspondingly lifted deep into supercar territory. The G-POWER M3 GT2 S covers the 0 to 200 km/h sprint in just 9.8 seconds, and tops out at 330 km/h - depending on the selected final drive ratio.

With the G-POWER M3 GT2 S HURRICANE, G-POWER once again demonstrates its expertise at tuning the sportiest BMW models, demonstrating why it is the logical partner for someone who wishes to develop a professional CLUBSPORT car.

Similar projects can also be implemented based on the new BMW M2 or the current M3/M4.
