An 850-horsepower truck enables huge jumps on Cuban streets.

Here’s one way to warm up relations between the United States and Cuba: Drift, burnout, and jump your trophy truck through the streets of Havana. That’s the method employed by BJ Baldwin and the Toyo Tires crew, who turned their Cuban adventure into this new nine-minute video.

With enough tire smoke and jumps to make Ken Block sit up and pay attention, the stunt-filled video is ostensibly based around Baldwin’s need to rush from a dominos game to a huge party. To do so, he hops behind the wheel of his 850-horsepower (634 kilowatts) race truck and tears through narrow streets, including making a 191-foot (58-meter) jump. Then it’s over fields and other obstacles, through an old bunker tunnel, and finally up to the front door of the aforementioned party.

See what else trophy trucks can do:

Yes, the video is a none-too-subtle advert for Monster Energy, plus all of Baldwin’s various other racing sponsors. But what we love is the way it respects the beauty and awe-inspiring vistas of Cuba while, uh, disrupting them with the roar of a barely muffled engine.

Baldwin is no stranger to incredible driving feats. This clip, called Recoil 4, follows three other similar videos (see Recoil 1, 2, and 3 here). We’ve also seen him test his mettle at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Nor is Baldwin the other extreme driver to use Cuba as his automotive playground; the cast of The Fate of the Furious also apparently spent some time there.
