Honda has announced plans to use Geneva Motor Show to introduce the new Accord Type S which will feature a sportier appearance and a more powerful engine.

Like the standard Accord, the new model uses the 2.2-liter i-DTEC diesel engine but thanks to several changes such as a revised turbo-charger, new cylinder heads and a larger intercooler the engine produces 180PS and 380Nm of torque. That translates into a gain of 30PS and 30Nm of torque compared to the more mainstream model.

Outside the model features new 18-inch alloy wheels, clear indicator covers, and a choice of two new exterior colors called Premium White Pearl and Basque Red.

The Type S will be offered in both sedan and wagon form, and further details will be released closer to the car's introduction.
