Porsche of North America has announced prices for US-bound Boxster and Cayman models. The cheapest Boxster starts at $46,600 while the most reasonably-priced Cayman has a price tag of $50,300.

Prices have been announced for the new Porsche Boxster and Cayman models in the US. The baseline Boxster starts at $46,600 and the Boxster S goes for $56,700. For the tin top Cayman and Cayman S prices of $50,300 and $60,200 have been set. These prices are about 1.8 percent higher than those of the outgoing 2008 models.

The Boxster and Cayman feature new uprated engines. A 2.9-litre flat six powers the Boxster to 255hp (190kW) but makes 10hp (7kW) more in the Cayman. Both the Boxster S and Cayman S share a 3.4-litre unit that delivers 310hp (231kW) and 320hp (239kW) respectively. Both engines are more powerful yet more fuel efficient than their predecessors.

Features added to the range include XM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, an iPod interface and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with a touch screen. Porsche's new 7-speed double clutch transmission called Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe or PDK can be ordered with any of the four models.
