A fancy grey matte paint is available as an option to spruce things up.
Should you find the regular S-Class Coupe not special enough and at the same time you don’t want to bother with the configurator, Mercedes is proposing a Night Edition fitted with numerous dark accents. These start on the outside where the radiator grille has a high-gloss black finish also noticeable on the 20-inch AMG wheels featuring a high-sheen rim flange. The side mirror caps along with the inserts in the side sill panels have received a similar treatment, while for extra sportiness the front and rear aprons wearing AMG’s signature come as standard.
To further set it apart from the regular model, Mercedes will slap on a “Night Edition” badge on the front wings and will give buyers the option of a matte paint officially known as “selenite grey magno” incorporating special pigments for extra effect.
The company with the three-pointed star logo isn’t ready just yet to show us the lavish cabin, but it does say “Night Edition” has been engraved on the insert of the AMG steering wheel covered in nappa leather. In addition, the door sills are illuminated with the “Mercedes-Benz” lettering and you can have the seats upholstered in leather, nappa leather or AMG nappa leather in multiple color combinations if the standard black/black look won’t be to your liking. Options include combos such as saddle brown/black, crystal grey/black, and Bengal red/black, with a high-gloss black poplar wood trim rounding off the changes on the inside.
Celebrating its world debut next month at NAIAS in Detroit, the Mercedes S-Class Coupe Black Edition is going to be available on order in S400 4Matic, S500, and S500 4Matic flavors from January 9. Europeans will get it from April while U.S. buyers will have to wait until August.
