The Infiniti QX80 is not a pretty SUV to begin with, but this doesn't help at all...

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that looks are subjective, but we’re having a hard time figuring out who would like this. Well, except for NFL player Domata Peko. Having bought a brand new 2017 Infiniti QX80, he wasn’t too satisfied with the fullsize SUV’s stock appearance and decided to give it a rather questionable aftermarket treatment.

Peko got in touch with California-based Larte Design and selected the tuner’s LR3 package bringing an over-the-top body kit for the massive SUV. It’s too busy for our tastes, especially with the redesigned front grille featuring interleaved Vs, where the “V” stands for “Victory,” according to Larte Design.

The beefy front bumper now hosts a pair of extra lights on each side and a strip of LEDs to serve as the daytime running lights. In addition, it looks as if the headlights now have eyebrows, for some reason…

The back of the QX80 has also been subjected to a few changes, with the most obvious one being the reshaped bumper now incorporation four 101-mm exhaust tips. There’s also a new diffuser, which according to Larte is not just for show as it actually boosts downforce at the rear axle.

We do like the teak wood flooring inside the cabin as well as in the trunk, but that’s about it. Plus, it doesn’t actually blend in with the rest of the modifications.

But, to each his own, right?

We checked the tuner’s site and found out the full LR3 kit tailored to the Infiniti QX80 costs $17,800, including painting and installation.

As far as the oily bits are concerned, the tuner hasn’t fiddled with the thirsty 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine. That means it pumps out the same 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts) and 413 pound-feet (560 Newton-meters) of torque through a seven-speed automatic transmission.
