Check out this amazing two minute video of the lightweight, and very fast Nissan GT-R SpecV. The video includes several shots of the car racing around the Ring.
Didn't get a chance to see the Nissan GT-R SpecV at the Tokyo Auto Salon? We can at least bring you one step closer with this truly excellent promotional video of the car.
The two minute clip includes some very cool shots of the car racing around the Ring. Kazutoshi Mizuno, head vehicle designer at Nissan, also discusses the vehicle in Japanese.
The GT-R SpecV sheds roughly 60 kg when compared to the standard GT-R. Powered by a 3.8-liter V6 with 434 ft-lb of torque, the twin-turbocharged engine cranks out 480hp. That last figure is the same as the GT-R, but the boost controller installed by Nissan adds more torque in higher gears by additional, short bursts from the turbos.
Carbon-ceramic brakes and race suspension also come on the tuned SpecV. With components like the body panels, grille, spoiler, and brake ducts made of carbon fibre, the company decided to only offer the GT-R SpecV in their Ultimate Black Opal colour. Lightweight aluminum wheels are wrapped in stickier-than-normal tyres. The SpecV is also a two seater, as opposed to the standard four-seater. The new seats are also carbon fibre, and made by Recaro.
Nissan put a limit on GT-R production to about 1,000 per month. Only 20 to 30 GT-R SpecV will be made each calendar month. At a cost of 15,750,000 yen (€127,000), the Nissan GT-R SpecV will hit Japan's showroom floors next month. A European rollout is also planned this year. Nissan executives are debating whether or not to offer the car in North America.
