The French company has prepared "hot" and "cold" versions of the car.

Just a couple of weeks after Citroen revealed its renewed C-Elysee, Peugeot is introducing a refreshed version of its equivalent and most affordable model, the 301 sedan. After about four years on the market and more than 360,000 sales, the budget vehicle is ready to hit the market early next year with a raft of improvements.

First of all, there’s a new design for the front end, which now incorporates the brand's latest stylistic codes – a vertical radiator grille with chrome details, two-sector tinted headlights, and revised bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights. At the back you can find a pair of redesigned taillights with new 3D graphics.

Just like its C-Elysee cousin, the 301 receives a new infotainment system with seven-inch touchscreen display. Depending on the trim level and optional features, the screen provides “fast and accurate” experience, displaying images from the reversing camera and the 3D TomTom navigation system. Also, it can mirror smartphone content using Mirror Screen triple play connectivity, “an unprecedented offer in the segment,” according to Peugeot.

Power is provided by a wide range of petrol and diesel engines, and the base option is a 1.2-liter PureTech petrol unit with 82 horsepower (61 kilowatts) and a five-speed manual gearbox. Next is a bigger 1.6-liter engine with 115 hp (85 kW), mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.

The diesel portfolio comprises a 1.6-liter motor in two power stages – 92 hp (69 kW) and 100 hp (74 kW), both offered only with a five-speed manual transmission. All units conform to the Euro 6 standards.

The refreshed 301 will be available in many countries worldwide, including some nations with hot climate. That’s why the two petrol versions of the model have a specific air-conditioning circuit with special compressor, condenser, and cooling circuit, as well as an additional AC Max button that provides maximum air conditioning at a touch of a button.

On the other side, for cold countries, Peugeot has developed electrical heating resistors, which allow faster heating of the passenger compartment. Heated seats and a heated windscreen are also part of the cold climate package.

The refreshed 301 will be produced in Vigo, Spain, where the facelifted Citroen C-Elysee is also going to be assembled.
