Just a handful of examples of the legendary Porsche 917 were built between 1969 and 1973. With its storied success on the track – winning Le Mans in 1970 and 1971 – taking ownership of such a rare vehicle off the track would mean some seriously deep pockets. The few that have come up for auction in recent years can’t be had for less than a few million. But for just £98,000 ($121,500), you could own the next best thing.
Sadly, it's not a real, genuine Porsche 917, but it is a handsome replica that was built to spec and completed in 2004. While it may lack the authenticity some hardcore collectors crave, it’s still a stunning piece of craftsmanship nonetheless. It's up for sale on eBay right now.

Wearing the iconic Gulf livery synonymous with Porsche products of the early ‘70s, this 917 replica is completely race ready with a 300-horsepower (223-kilowatt) 3.6-liter air-cooled inline six, and a five-speed manual gearbox off a 915. A fiberglass body sits over a lightweight tubular space-frame chassis, while four Dunlop CR82 racing tires wrap around a set of center-lock 15-inch wheels.
The car has raced at a number of events throughout Europe, including the 2005 Spa 6 Hours, and is the first and only 917K replica to run under Gulf approval. In fact, just a few months ago it was commissioned to be a centerpiece at the opening of the 500th Gulf-branded garage in the U.K. It's also been featured in a few automotive publications over the years, and received second-in-class honors at the 2016 Concours d’Elegance in Monterey.
If that isn’t enticing enough, it comes with a number of signatures on its inner door sills, including those of Alan Hearn, Jackie Oliver, Derek Bell, Jurgen Barth, Brian Redman, Willi Kausen, and more. Just five days are left on the auction, so get to biddin’.
