UK pricing for the 2009 Ford Focus RS is released. The most powerful hot hatch ever made by Ford for Europe is scheduled for a March 2009 showroom floor debut at just under £25,000 standard.
Pricing for the fastest-ever European production car to come out of the Ford stable, the 2009 Focus RS, has been announced for the UK. When launched in March 2009 the Focus RS will have a minimum price tag of £24,995.
After a number of years without an RS (Rallye Sport) variant, Ford finally gave in to customer demand and developed this turbocharged blazing hatch. Power is sourced from the Focus ST's 2.5-litre five cylinder petrol engine to produce 305PS/ 224kW, channeled through the front wheels. Maximum torque is rated at 440Nm.
The Focus RS features unique camshafts, revised cylinder heads and gasket, as well as changes to the intake and manifold systems. Its 6-speed manual gearbox helps the RS accelerate from zero to 62mph in just under 6 seconds, with a top speed stated at over 160mmp (257km/h). Technologies such as the RevoKnuckle front-suspension system and a Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing LSD keep the car's handling top notch even in very sticky situations.
Interior appointments include Recaro sports seats, carbon fiber inlays, a Sony 6-CD changer, and a keyless engine starter system. There will be optional equipment offered like a £750 Luxury Pack that features dual-zone air conditioning, rain-sensing wipers and rear parking distance sensors. Another more expensive Luxury Pack includes a touch-screen DVD navigation system.
