Part Peugeot, part Mitsubishi Evo, this rally car tribute is 400-horsepower worth of fun.
This is not a real Peugeot 205 T16 Group B rally car, no matter how much you want it to be. While the legendary French rally car itself would be something impressive to see on the used market, this one-off wears the manufacturer’s signature body on the outside, while inside and underneath, it’s all Mitsubishi Evo all the time. It’s up for grabs on eBay.
Available for sale in Runcorn, Cheshire, England, for £55,000 ($67,000), the handsome racer was built by DIMMA in the U.K. specifically for hill climb, time attack, and track day events, though it's completely street legal. The build was completed in 2015 as a tribute car as opposed to a replica (given the Evo underpinnings), and features the same performance of the legendary rally car, but with relative reliability you'd expect in a modern race car.
The exterior was constructed out of a spaceframe chassis and covered with a kevlar replica wide body, all of which mounted precariously onto Evo 8 underpinnings and mechanicals. Either 18x10-inch alloys, or 17x7.5-inch Compomotive rally wheels are available (we prefer the latter), and then there’s the engine...
At the front of the car, rather than the back, sits a 400-horsepower (298-kilowatt) Evo 8 engine paired with an Evo 9 turbo, four-wheel drive, and a six-speed sequential gearbox with anti-lag. The seller says that “it’s light and very fast,” and that “the handling is predictable, smooth, and it will drift beautiful if that’s you’re style.”
So if you’re in the market for a classic rally car — or at least, something that resembles one – look no further than this handsome Peugeot/Evo mashup.
