Ford Fiesta will from 2009, come in sedan body-shape, be built in China and only for the Chinese markets. Europe is in line for other variations from 2010.
China's importance as a world car market is growing at the same rate as its ability to churn out software not registered with its original owners. Never mind that, Ford is betting the new Fiesta sedan will be a real hit with China, after unveiling it at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Based on Verve Concept notchback of 2007, the Fiesta sedan is being built in China for the Chinese market only. Ford's research indicated that the world's soon-to-be biggest auto market wants a car of this nature.
"This Fiesta writes the next chapter in our small car success story," says Robert Graziano, president and CEO, Ford Motor China, "and builds on the widespread appeal of the Ford brand in China. Style-aware Chinese consumers will appreciate the uniqueness of this car that expresses their individuality, style and aspirations."
Fiesta sedan is not going to be launched in Europe, however, this market as well as North America will get some other variations of the car from 2010. Said variations we can only speculate on, but strong feelings of cabriolet and maybe even small pickup come to mind.
