We clearly have the wrong job.

Police forces in Dubai and Abu Dhabi may have the most impressive fleets in the world, but being a man of the law in Australia is not too shabby either if you’re a car fan (which we assume you are since otherwise you wouldn’t be here.) After receiving keys to some fasted-paced machines in recent years such as a Polestar-tuned Volvo S60, Porsche 911 Carrera, Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe and a Lexus RC F, police authorities in the Land Down Under now have a shiny new Audi S7 Sportback to use for the following twelve months.

The loaner comes from Audi Australia and will be put to good use by the NSW Police Force in a series of community and youth engagement programs and it will also appear at several events around Lake Illawarra LAC. The car’s exterior finish was actually picked following a design contest organized last year by Audi Australia on its Facebook page, with the winning livery being voted by almost 800 people.

Priced at 180,716 Australian dollars, the S7 Sportback certainly has what it takes to fulfill the role of a true police car to catch speeding motorists. With a biturbo 4.0-liter V8 engine underneath its long hood, the car catapults to 62 mph (100 kph) in as little as 4.6 seconds and will top out at an electronically-capped 155 mph (250 kph). It will not be used to catch the bad guys on the run, but if it were, it would be up to the task with its immense output of 450 horsepower (331 kilowatts) and 405 pound-feet (550 Newton-meters) of torque channeled to the Quattro all-wheel drive system.

The S7 Sportback is actually the second car received by the NSW Police Force from Australia, with the first one being an RS4 Avant, yet another high-performance model and a great way to grab the attention of the local community.
