Nissan won't yet tell us what the Star Wars-inspired Rogue will look like.
Nissan hopes that after people see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in theaters on December 16 that audiences fly into their local showroom and check out the new 2017 Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition. These crossovers aren’t as cool as the Millennium Falcon, but the special model lets fans show their passion for a galaxy far, far away.
For now, Nissan is keeping details as secret as the Death Star plans about the Star Wars-inspired 2017 Rogue (not pictured below). The company is showing off the special vehicle’s badge, though. It’s essentially the same as the film’s logo that features “Rogue One” inside a rectangle but with “Limited Edition” below it.
Nissan will unveil the Rogue One edition at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. We think using some of the cues from an X-Wing could look good on the crossover. Perhaps, Nissan could give the CUV a beige or white body with red stripes. The Rebel Alliance’s circular insignia would look good on the doors or perhaps on the mirror caps to be more subtle. Inside, the company should use a custom startup for the infotainment system what would sound like a droid. The Rogue still can’t make the jump to hyperspace after these tweaks, but the updates would let the CUV fit in among the hive of scum and villainy at the Mos Eisley spaceport.
Nissan is one of five brands partnering with Lucasfilm to promote the upcoming blockbuster. After the massive success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens last year, it shouldn’t be too hard to convince folks into checking out the first spin-off film in the mega-popular sci-fi franchise. Rogue One takes place around the same time as the original Star Wars movie. It tells the story of the group who steal the Death Star plans and allow the climax of Episode 4 to happen.
