In a few hours, Audi will finally reveal in full the much-anticipated RS3 Sedan featuring the beloved five-cylinder engine.
A dealer conference in United States some months ago uncovered Audi’s plans to infuse 400 hp in a U.S.-bound RS3 Sedan, and now we know the model is also coming to Europe. Those ponies are going to be provided by Audi’s new turbocharged 2.5-liter, five-cylinder engine, which has already made its debut in the TT RS. With 354 pound-feet (480 Newton-meters) at its disposal, Audi says the RS3 Sedan “is simply bursting with power,” but we’ll have to wait until later in the day to find out details about the performances of Audi’s CLA45 AMG rival.
Besides getting a more powerful engine, the RS3 Sedan will also adopt an aggressive body kit as depicted in the pictures below showing the U.S.-spec model. Chances are its Euro counterpart will look virtually the same, so don’t hold your breath for any big surprised from Ingolstadt’s latest go-faster compact sedan.
As you would expect from an RS model, the new arrival will adopt a standard Quattro all-wheel drive setup, along with oval exhaust tips, and enlarged wheels backed by beefy brakes to match the grunt provided by the five-cylinder turbo. A stiffer suspension arrangement is also part of the package, as will be the sporty touches inside the cabin where there are going to be red needles and white scales for the instrument cluster. At an additional cost, buyers will be able to spend extra on the fancy Audi Virtual Cockpit, an entirely digital 12.3-inch screen replacing the analog dials.
Check back later today for images and complete details about the 2017 RS3 Sedan in Euro flavor. It's North American sibling will likely bow at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Audi's other big premiere at the 2016 Paris Motor Show is going to be the second-generation Q5 also scheduled to be unveiled in the following hours.
