20 automakers to make automatic emergency braking systems standard equipment
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have announced 20 automakers have committed to make automatic emergency braking systems standard equipment on virtually all new cars by September 1st, 2022. The agreement covers more than 99 percent of the U.S. auto market and includes key players such as Audi, BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.
