The Ford Explorer, by all accounts, is an icon. It essentially birthed the modern SUV as we know it today. Three decades and six generations later, and it’s still one of the most successful models Ford has ever produced. Now, for 2020, there’s an all-new version – and it’s making its debut next week at the Detroit Auto Show. But before you catch the new Explorer in person at the Cobo Center, take a look back at the five generations that inspired it.
