Alfa Romeo Giulietta Refresh
The teeny, tiny Giulietta hatchback is sticking around; Alfa Romeo plans to give it a thorough refresh in the next few years as part of its full-line makeover. Other details like powertrain options remain mostly a mystery, but we do know there will be an electrified version.
Alfa Romeo C-Segment Crossover
Slotted underneath the Stelvio, a small C-segment crossover will join the range. It will be one of two new SUVs (the second one you’ll see in a few slides), and will compete directly with luxury subcompact SUVs like the Volvo XC40, the BMW X2, and the Mercedes-Benz GLA, among others.
Alfa Romeo Giulia Refresh / Long-Wheelbase
Even though the current Giulia has only been on the market since 2015, already Alfa Romeo is planning a refresh of its mainstream model. Like most other vehicles on this list, that makeover should make its way to market before 2022, and will be joined by a long-wheelbase model (likely destined for markets like China exclusively).
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Refresh / Long-wheelbase
Just like the Giulia, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio will get a refresh by 2022. It will also be joined by a long-wheelbase version, but it’s still unclear if either the Stelvio or the Giulia LWB versions will make their way to the U.S.
Alfa Romeo E-Segment Crossover
The Stelvio will be joined by not just one, but two new crossovers. The second E-segment option will be larger than the Stelvio, and will probably include a third row if we had to guess. No details on powertrain options, or when we might see it in the sheet metal.
Alfa Romeo GTV
The Gran Turismo Veloce (or GTV) has long been rumored to make a return to the Alfa Romeo lineup, but now we have official confirmation that it will. As part of FCA’s five-year strategy, the company will revive the sporty coupe with a perfect 50:50 weight distribution, and upwards of 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) thanks to an electric boost. The GTV will also feature four seats and all-wheel drive.
Alfa Romeo 8C
The beloved Alfa Romeo 8C is on the way back. Following a near-eight-year hiatus, CEO Sergio Marchionne has confirmed the sports cars return to the range, complete with a 700-horsepower (521 kilowatts) electrified powertrain, a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, and the ability to hit 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in less than three seconds.
Fiat 500e / 500 Giardiniera
Fiat will introduce a new generation of the electric 500e, and there will be a wagon version that will revive the Giardiniera name. Unlike the original three-door, the new long-roof variant will likely have a five-door body. There are no details yet about the powertrain specs, a release date, or even if these models might come to the United States.
Jeep A/B-Segment Mystery Model
With the expansion of Jeep ongoing, that means even more models for the American marque. A mysterious A/B-segment SUV will be built underneath the Renegade – proof of earlier rumors – and it could be Fiat based. Like all future Jeeps, this one will also utilize a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
New Jeep Renegade
A new Renegade is on the way. Following a refresh of the tiny SUV sometime in the next year, an all-new version should hit the market sometime in 2022. Expect a plug-in hybrid powertrain on that SUV, too.
Refreshed Jeep Compass
The new Compass has been on the road for less than a year now, but already Jeep is planning a mid-cycle makeover. That new version should hit the market before 2021, with only a few light updates, and will come with an electrification option.
New Jeep Cherokee
The Jeep Cherokee underwent a makeover earlier in the year, ditching the polarizing headlights in place of something more subtle, but already an all-new version is on the way. That model should make it to market sometime before 2022, and once again, will have an electrification option.
Low D-Segment Three-Row Jeep Crossover
A three-row crossover will be added to the Jeep range, joining the Grand Commander that was recently introduced in China. This segment will also be the first to adopt Level 3 autonomy, and will do so by 2021, says FCA.
Jeep Truck (Scrambler)
We’ve been waiting patiently for the Wrangler-based Scrambler pickup, and now FCA promises that it’s coming. On this slide it’s designated as a D-segment truck, but it should be only marginally bigger than the Wrangler on which it’s based.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Two-Row
The standard three-row Grand Cherokee will be joined by two-row version before 2022. It’s unclear whether the platform will shrink, or if Jeep will just decide to ditch the back seat (a la Lexus LX) and allow for a hugely spacious trunk.
Jeep E-Segment Three-Row
That’s right, another three-row model. Though the Grand Cherokee may be ditching seats, a more-spacious three-row SUV will be built alongside it. There won’t be a fully electric option in this segment, but there will be a plug-in variant.
Jeep Wagoneer / Grand Wagoneer
After plenty of waiting (and tons of teasing), Jeep will revive the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer nameplates. The two will be comparable to the Grand Cherokee and the aforementioned E-segment SUV in size, and should come with three rows, and of course, significant off-road capabilities. Expect a plug-in option, too.
D-Segment Maserati Crossover
Maserati will soon add another SUV to its lineup that’s smaller than the Levante. The new SUV will have a 50:50 weight distribution. The company says the vehicle will have best-in-class power to-weight ratio and a best-in-class lightweight platform. The new Maserati SUV will come with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and offer superior handling, according to the automaker.
Refreshed Maserati Levante
By 2022, Maserati will also have a refreshed Levante crossover available. Details on how the crossover will change are scarce, but the company did say it will receive a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Thanks to a new modular platform and all-wheel drive, the refreshed Levante will offer 50:50 weight distribution.
Refreshed Maserati Ghibli
Along with the refreshed Levante, Maserati will give its Ghibli a makeover as well as the vehicle moves toward a new generation in 2022. The new Maserati will host an assortment of new features ranging from connected-car technologies to plug-in hybrid powertrains and Level 3 self-driving technology.
New Maserati Quattroporte
The year 2022 will be huge for Maserati. It’s the company’s benchmark for new products like the Quattroporte – which will see a new generation soon. Maserati Blue – the company’s electrification plan – is a three-motor, all-wheel-drive setup will be offered for the Quattroporte. There will be a plug-in-hybrid powertrain that allows the vehicle to have a 50:50 weight distribution thanks to a new modular platform.
Maserati Alfieri / Alfieri Convertible
Maserati is taking aim at Tesla with its Alfieri coupe and convertible. The two-door will be a purely electric vehicle that will fall under the Maserati Blue umbrella. This should replace the GranTurismo and GranCabrio as the brand’s halo offerings. The new Alfieri will use the new three-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain that offers full-active torque vectoring.
Ram 1500 TRX
Ram’s Hellcat pickup is real, and it’s coming to market in just a few years. Dubbed the 1500 TRX, the truck should share a number of similarities with the concept that was shown back in 2016, and will wield a supercharged Hellcat engine. No word on whether it will have the same 575 horsepower (428 kilowatts) on tap, though.
Ram Midsized Truck
Ram didn’t make a big deal about announcing a new midsize pickup, but it was huge news to us. Unfortunately, the company didn’t reveal any specs or a debut date for the truck. The model will be the first midsize pickup in the Ram lineup since the Dakota’s retirement in 2011.
New Ram 2500 / 3500
The Hellcat-powered TRX won’t be the only big, bold truck Ram has planned for 2022. New versions of the heavy duty 2500 and 3500 models will also be introduced, and should be plenty powerful.
New Ram ProMaster City
Trucks won’t be the only focus for Ram in the next few years, the American marque also plans to build an all-new version of its ProMaster City cargo van. The current large Promaster, though, will carry on as is until 2022.
