2014 Skoda Rapid Spaceback leaks out early?

Skoda's web designers have a tendency to let models slip out early and their streak apparently continues as the Rapid Spaceback was reportedly posted on the company's car configurator.

The error seems to have been fixed, but not before an Autoforum reader was able to get a couple of screen shots. Assuming the pictures are legitimate, they show the model will have a no frills design that focuses on practicality instead of flair. Notable changes include longer rear doors, large rear quarter windows and a gently sloping tailgate that is flanked by familiar taillights.

Engine options will likely carryover from the standard model so expect choices to include:

  • A 1.6-liter TDI with outputs of 90 HP (66 kW) and 105 HP (77 kW)
  • A 1.2-liter MPI with 75 HP (55 kW / 74 hp) and 112 Nm (83 lb-ft) of torque
  • A turbocharged 1.2-liter TSI with outputs of 86 HP (63 kW and 105 HP (77 kW)
  • A turbocharged 1.4-liter TSI with 122 HP (90 kW) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque

The Skoda Rapid Spaceback could be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, so expect to learn more in the coming months.

Thanks to Ross for the tip!
