Porsche 918 Spyder still not sold out - report

The Porsche 918 Spyder is inching closer to production and the company is reportedly looking to ensure the model is a sellout.

As a result, Porsche is inviting potential customers to private viewings and exclusive events in cities such as Dallas, Las Vegas, New York and Pebble Beach. Unsurprisingly, the United States is expected to be the Spyder's largest market with at least 190 out of the 918 models destined for America.

As we have previously reported, the Porsche 918 Spyder has a 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 608 HP (447 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque. It is backed up by two electric motors - producing 156 HP (115 kW) and approximately 129 HP (95 kW) - which power each axle. This enables the car to have a combined maximum output of 887 HP (661 kW) and more than 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. Porsche expects the model will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 340 km/h (211 mph).
