Nissan has announced Datsun will be relaunched with a new passenger vehicle that is slated to go on sale in 2014.
The company declined to go into specifics, but said the model will have a "strong independent brand identity." That's a little vague, but Nissan released a teaser image which suggests the model will have angular headlights, a small grille and a contoured hood.
In addition to the previously announced markets of Russia, Indonesia and India, Nissan confirmed plans to offer Datsun in South Africa as well.
According to Datsun boss Vincent Cobee, "Datsun's key values – accessible, reliable and modern - are designed to accommodate the needs and aspirations of this target group, just as it did for similarly optimistic customers in Japan, America and a large part of the world during most of the 20th century."
