Mercedes E-Class facelift spied with less camouflage

The Mercedes E-Class was introduced at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, so it comes as little surprise the company is working on a facelift for their bread-and-butter sedan.

Recently spied undergoing testing, the model has a new front fascia with restyled headlights and a CLS-inspired grille. Out back, the changes are less noticeable but include a modified bumper and updated taillights.

Engine options will likely include the usual units, so expect a 3.5-liter V6 with 333 hp (248 kW / 338 PS), a turbocharged 4.6-liter V8 with 435 hp (324 kW / 441 PS) and a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with 537 hp (400 kW / 544 PS). There could also be a new entry-level model with a Renault-sourced 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that develops approximately 156 hp (116 kW / 158 PS).

The facelifted E-Class will reportedly be launched early next year.
